I’m in a bit of a creative funk lately. It’s allergy season and I decided to forgo shots this year (since I was paying a lot of money, driving 50 miles one way for them, and still supplementing with allergy medication) so I’m riding the struggle bus. I’ve been going to bed between 8:30-9:00 every night and still feeling sluggish throughout the day. Love this time of year… but it does not love me.

It took months for our weather to warm up, and it looks like we’re going to be able to get in the pool this weekend. We really only got a couple of weeks of spring-like weather it seems!

But now it’s time to find a bathing suit. Why are they so expensive? Why can I never find one to cover my butt? Should I resort to wearing a t-shirt to the pool? I have lots of questions.

So I started digging. I’ve rounded up lots of options: bikinis, tankinis, one-pieces, and plus size – all under $50 (many under $40). I also looked for suits that provide good coverage or tummy control and/or underwire. I don’t buy that you have to spend $100 to get a good suit: I once bought bottoms at Walmart in a pinch for $10 – and I’ve worn them for years.

I took a bargain and ordered this $12.99 ruffled one-piece swimsuit on Amazon. I’m not normally a one-piece gal since I’m so bottom-heavy, but the reviews were great. And, it was $13, you know? It comes in four shades (at different price points; all around $25) and has free shipping, though it’s not Prime-eligible. Can’t wait to get mine!

Cupshe swimsuits unfortunately do not come in my cup size, which is unfair because they’re so cute! Everyone says the quality is great (Allison confirmed this) and they’re all insanely inexpensive. Also – you can buy them on Amazon! A few of my Cupshe favorites:

!function(d,s,id){
var e, p = /^http:/.test(d.location) ? ‘http’ : ‘https’;
if(!d.getElementById(id)) {
e = d.createElement(s);
e.id = id;
e.src = p + ‘://widgets.rewardstyle.com/js/shopthepost.js’;
d.body.appendChild(e);
}
if(typeof window.__stp === ‘object’) if(d.readyState === ‘complete’) {
window.__stp.init();
}
}(document, ‘script’, ‘shopthepost-script’);

Other Amazon favorites:

!function(d,s,id){
var e, p = /^http:/.test(d.location) ? ‘http’ : ‘https’;
if(!d.getElementById(id)) {
e = d.createElement(s);
e.id = id;
e.src = p + ‘://widgets.rewardstyle.com/js/shopthepost.js’;
d.body.appendChild(e);
}
if(typeof window.__stp === ‘object’) if(d.readyState === ‘complete’) {
window.__stp.init();
}
}(document, ‘script’, ‘shopthepost-script’);

Target is another favorite for swimsuits. I bought my last few there, and picked up another bottom this year.

!function(d,s,id){
var e, p = /^http:/.test(d.location) ? ‘http’ : ‘https’;
if(!d.getElementById(id)) {
e = d.createElement(s);
e.id = id;
e.src = p + ‘://widgets.rewardstyle.com/js/shopthepost.js’;
d.body.appendChild(e);
}
if(typeof window.__stp === ‘object’) if(d.readyState === ‘complete’) {
window.__stp.init();
}
}(document, ‘script’, ‘shopthepost-script’);

Old Navy is a bit pricier, but they have good deals on separates. Their boy shorts are my preferred style of swimsuit bottom.

!function(d,s,id){
var e, p = /^http:/.test(d.location) ? ‘http’ : ‘https’;
if(!d.getElementById(id)) {
e = d.createElement(s);
e.id = id;
e.src = p + ‘://widgets.rewardstyle.com/js/shopthepost.js’;
d.body.appendChild(e);
}
if(typeof window.__stp === ‘object’) if(d.readyState === ‘complete’) {
window.__stp.init();
}
}(document, ‘script’, ‘shopthepost-script’);

Swimsuit season can be tough for many women, but it shouldn’t be. Don’t let your idea of what you should look like in a bathing suit get in your way of living your life. And if you have a problem with how someone else looks in a bathing suit, while they’re out their living and enjoying their family, you’re an asshole.

Where’s your favorite place to find budget-friendly bathing suits?
